Hello! If you are ever interested in volunteering in the classroom, please get in touch with me to discuss your availability! You can talk to me in person or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also, tomorrow night (September 7) is Curriculum Night from 6-7pm. Stop by to hear about your child's second grade learning!
Hello parents! I sent an email this morning to all the email addresses we have on file. If you did not receive it, please let me know so that I can update our system with your email address! The email included a link to sign up for snacks. Here it is!
Welcome! I am so excited for school to be starting soon. I can't wait to meet all of my new students. This year is sure to be a great one with plenty of learning and fun. I am getting the classroom all set up and ready to go! I hope to see lots of you on Thursday, August 17 from 5:00-6:00pm for back-to-school night. This is a time to drop of supplies, meet the teacher, and have an ice cream social!
Spring is a time to celebrate the year of hard work. Here are some fun things that will be going on:
-We will celebrate April Birthdays TODAY, April 28.
-We will make matching class T-Shirts for Field Day. Please bring in a plain white T-Shirt by May 5 so that we can make them the week of May 8-12.
-Field Day is May 18!
-Passion Project celebration day/ yearbook signing is May 26.
-Our class picnic at Southmoor Park is May 30.
-We will celebrate May and June birthdays the last week of school- day and time TBD.
-June 2 is the last day of school.
We will be going to Bear Creek Park on March 9th. Students need to dress for the weather as we will be outside the whole day! Any parent who wants to meet us there can let me know and we will get you a map of where to meet and when.
I hope everyone had a great winter break! Students come back Monday, January 9th, and we will dive right back into our learning. We have many fun projects and activities in the coming months!
We have our first field trip on Wednesday, November 30th. We are going to the Arvada Center to see Junie B. Jones the musical and make a craft that goes along with it. Please send a bag lunch or have your child get a school bag lunch. Thank you!
The year is well under way by now. I appreciate you taking the time to read my website and I hope you find some useful things! There are lots of exciting things to look forward to- you can find those under the "calendar" tab. You can also find a glimpse of what we are learning under the "our learning" tab. I've also added a brand new tab- a "volunteer" tab for parents who are interested in volunteering in the room. I plan to update and add more volunteer opportunities soon!
Parent/teacher conferences will be here in early November! Please sign up in the hall by the office for a day and time that works for you! Our first field trip will be in late November. We are so excited to go to the Arvada center to see Junie B. Jones the musical!
Our school-wide Halloween celebration will be October 31. The exact time will be sent home soon, but expect a parade and dance through the school followed by a classroom party. More information to come!
This Thursday, September 8th, we will be hosting a "curriculum night" for parents to visit the classrooms and learn about their student's grade level and curriculum. There will be two sessions- please join us from either 6:00-6:30 or from 6:30-7:00. If you can't make it, I can send home the information we discuss!
*Also- I realize that I made a typo on the homework packet! It is due Thursday, September 8th!
The first week of school has been great so far! Yesterday, we did a lot of games and explored our classroom. Today we have been diving into more schoolwork and practicing routines in the classroom. We have 30 wonderful second graders in our class. We had our first birthday today! We can't wait to celebrate at our class party on August 31.
We are allowed to have snack in second grade, so you can either send your student with a snack or donate bulk snacks to our classroom.
We have a few students who are new to Southmoor. Please let me know if they (or you ) have any questions or concerns. We are trying to make sure everyone is making friends and feeling comfortable here!
From Mrs. Titus
*Special note- I am currently changing my last name (I just got married!), so if you see the name "Ms. Friedrich" anywhere, that's me also!
